Between March 22 and 24, 2025, Bihar will be celebrating its foundation day, or Bihar Diwas, with a host of grand festivities in Patna. The celebrations, which will return after a gap of a year due to earlier elections, will spread across around 20 lakh square feet at Gandhi Maidan, which is more than 70% of the total area there.
The Bihar Education Project Council has dubbed this year's celebration as 'Unnat Bihar, Viksit Bihar' (Advanced Bihar, Developed Bihar). The three-day celebration will see a range of cultural programs, educational workshops, film shows, and sightseeing. Stalls and pavilions of all the state departments will be put up at Gandhi Maidan to engage and enlighten visitors on the state's efforts and successes.
Besides the flagship events at Gandhi Maidan, there will also be cultural programs at S K Memorial Hall and Rabindra Bhavan. Patliputra University has been given the onus of arranging a three-day inter-varsity cultural festival on March 22-24, in which all the 13 universities of the state are likely to take part.
The festivities will also feature a seven-day book festival, giving book lovers a chance to browse through varied literature. The state government has planned a series of cultural activities, competitions, tours, and recreational activities to make the event an unforgettable experience for visitors.
Bihar Diwas commemorates the creation of the state after it was separated from the Bengal Presidency by the British in 1912. The state government has been celebrating Bihar Diwas annually since 2010, and this year, too, promises to be a festive one, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and development of Bihar.
The people living in Bihar and visitors are motivated to take part in the different festivities and experience the rich culture and history of Bihar.
